HVAC Technology
Heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems keep our homes, schools, and workplaces comfortable and safe year-round. As technology advances and energy efficiency becomes a priority, skilled HVAC technicians are in high demand to install, maintain, and repair the systems our world depends on.
In the two-year HVAC Technology program, students learn both the technical and practical sides of the HVAC industry. The program is designed to meet you at your experience level, whether you’re completely new to tools and systems or already have background knowledge. Throughout the course, students inspect, repair, and rehabilitate real HVAC units, including furnaces, ventilation systems, and air conditioners.
During the first year, students build foundational knowledge in refrigeration, airflow, ductwork, and system components. They learn essential fabrication skills such as soldering and brazing, then apply them to hands-on projects in our two-story HVAC lab. This space includes fully functional air-conditioning systems, furnaces, refrigeration systems, ventilation and ductwork setups, and testing equipment.
In the second year, students advance to diagnosing system failures, performing repairs, testing for efficiency, and completing major installation projects. CTC HVAC students have installed large-scale HVAC systems in schools, event spaces, and district facilities, giving them real experience working on professional-grade equipment. Seniors also have the opportunity to do on-the-job shadowing with local HVAC providers.
By the end of the program, students will have the opportunity to earn industry-recognized credentials such as OSHA-10 Safety, HVAC Excellence, and EPA 608 Refrigeration Certification, valuable certifications that employers look for in entry-level technicians.
