Advanced Computer Engineering

Computers have made their way into almost every aspect of our lives. They run our cars, kitchen appliances, and are even beginning to add smart technology to our toilets. Currently, about 90% of the world’s currency exists on computers. Computer Scientists and Engineers utilize this technology to innovate and solve some of the world’s most pressing and complex problems. By taking part in the Advanced Computer Engineering program, you’ll gain the opportunity to be a part of this technological revolution.

In Advanced Computer Engineering, students will work with hardware one year and software another. Both years are designed to meet students at their level, whether they have a lot or little to no experience with the current unit. During their hardware year, students learn about hardware assembly and have the opportunity to apply it to hands-on projects such as assembling a PC using the skills they’ve gained in class. During their software year, they’ll be able to learn about software methodology and then apply that knowledge to projects such as programming NAO bots to dance and building a robot from scratch to compete against other classmates. This program also offers many opportunities beyond the classroom, such as internships, certifications, and college credit. This class will prepare students looking for a two or four year degree in IT, Computer Programming, Computer Science, and Computer Engineering.
